What is the judging criteria? What should the students work on for the contest?
Students should expect to stand in an open room in front of a panel of three judges. They can prep to setup a poster board or dress in costume if they like - it is an open area. They will be standing 6' from the judges (think American Idol, but with no Simon)!
The judges will be smiling and encouraging looking for the following traits to award points:
1. Originality (is what you are presenting your own compilation of materials and does it show your style?)
2. Composure/Professionalism (Are you looking into the eyes of your audience or at the floor? Speaking clearly and loud enough?)
3. Time (3-5 minutes)
4. Memorization (no prompting or reading)
5. Depth of material (how far from the norm did you explore the subject?)
